   Training & Instruction

Care and rehabilitation of the troubled horse holds a special place in our lives. It takes special handling to help a horse let go of a troubled past. Undoing previous “work” with a horse that was done in the name of training or punishment is not always fast or easy, but is a very necessary service to provide. We strive to put the emotional needs of the horse as priority, without letting the mental and physical needs fall by the wayside.

A proper foundation for the young horse is key to building any type of specialty riding. Ground manners and skills are just as important as being started under saddle and are essential for a well-rounded horse. Every young horse started at KCB will not only be started under saddle, but learn the necessary ground skills to be mannerly and polite with their handler. Depending on the time of year, training on the trails is an integral part of being started under saddle.

Any horse can become comfortable within the confines of four walls. We feel that real life situations need to be exposed to the young horse (or older horse being restarted) to ready them for their future experiences. We feel that no horse is too far gone to relearn new habits. If the owner is willing to commit to learning new ways to help their horse, age is no factor for training.
